Sometimes joy can find you unexpectedly, and sometimes you might just let yourself look for it. Advent is a time of waiting, maybe even waiting to feel joy. We can also acknowledge that we do want to feel joy.
Text: Luke 1:39-45
In those days Mary set out and went with haste to a Judean town in the hill country, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And why has this happened to me, that the mother of my Lord comes to me? For as soon as I heard the sound of your greeting, the child in my womb leaped for joy. And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her by the Lord.”

I don’t know about you, but I want to feel Joy, joy, Joy!
I don’t know about you, but I want to feel Joy, joy, Joy!
I don’t know about where we’re goin’
I just know we gotta keep it flowin’
I don’t know about you, but I want to feel Joy, joy, Joy! 2X
*I wanna feel love…
I don’t know about you, but I want to feel Love, Love, Love!
I don’t know about you, but I want to feel Love, Love, Love!
I don’t know about where we’re goin’
I just know we gotta keep it flowin’
I don’t know about you, but I want to feel Love, Love, Love! 2X
*I wanna feel peace…
I don’t know about you, but I want to feel Peace, Peace, Peace!
I don’t know about you, but I want to feel Peace, Peace, Peace!
I don’t know about where we’re goin’
I just know we gotta keep it flowin’
I don’t know about you, but I want to feel Peace, Peace, Peace! 2X
I don’t know about you, but I want to feel Joy, joy, Joy!
I don’t know about you, but I want to feel Joy, joy, Joy!
Reflection Questions:
What is holding you back from feeling joy or showing joy? How might we be blocking the ways our bodies might want to leap for joy? What if you just said and claimed the idea that “I don’t know about you, but I want to feel Joy, joy, Joy!”?
